Celebrating 20 years!

Twenty years of Hand and Upper Limb Orthopaedics in Western Australia

July 2026 — the Paul Jarrett Orthopaedic Clinic celebrates 20 years in practice

Twenty years ago this week, we saw our first patient at the Paul Jarrett Orthopaedic Clinic.

A milestone like this is worth pausing on. Really, though, twenty years says less about us than about the people who got us here: the patients who trusted us with a painful hand or shoulder and let us help, and the GPs across Perth and regional WA who have kept sending their patients our way for two decades.

What stays the same

A great deal has changed since 2006. Techniques have advanced, recovery times have shortened, and what once meant a long hospital stay is often now a day procedure and a quicker return to normal life. We’ve taken up a lot of that progress, and we’ll keep doing so.

But what keeps people coming back to the clinic, and keeps GPs referring to us, isn’t just the technology, or even our surgeon, Paul Jarrett. It’s the day-to-day things. A helpful team who answer the phone. A letter back to the GP the same day we see their patient, written in plain language. A diagnosis and treatment plan explained until it genuinely makes sense. Treating the person in front of us as more than ‘a carpal tunnel‘ or ‘a rotator cuff‘. None of that makes headlines, and it’s a good part of why people come back.

A quiet thank you to our referring colleagues

Much of what we do begins with another doctor’s judgement: a GP who knows their patient well, notices they need a specialist who they can trust, and points them in our direction. Many of those relationships have lasted the full twenty years. Some GPs have moved practices two or three times and still trusted us with their patients wherever they landed.

We don’t take that for granted. To every referring practitioner who has worked alongside us over the years: thank you. Looking after your patients well, and keeping you properly in the loop, remains what we care most about getting right.

The next chapter

We’re marking the occasion simply, with a note of thanks to our patients and the Doctors who refer to us.

Mostly, though, we’ll be doing what we’ve done every week for twenty years: showing up, and looking after Western Australians. We’re glad to still be here, and we’ve no plans to stop.
