Referring

Referred to by over 660 medical professionals in 2018.

Dear Doctor,
We would be delighted to assist you with the management of your Patients who have Hand or Upper-Limb conditions.

We believe your Patients will be very happy with their experience at our Orthopaedic Clinic as we strive to make the process as Patient and referring doctor centred as possible.

In order to have the capacity to see your WorkCover and Privately insured Patients as rapidly as possible at Murdoch, Mr Paul Jarrett sees all public and uninsured Patients at his weekly Clinic at Fremantle Hospital and he would be delighted to receive referrals for uninsured Patients there.

Prior to the Clinic appointment we send your Patient, (either by post or e-mail) our practice brochure, Patient information sheets and appointment timings. We remind Patients 1-2 days prior to their appointment by two-way SMS.

Following the consultation we organise all Patients’ imaging / therapy / splints and on-going appointments or care for them rather than leaving the Patient to navigate the often unfamiliar medical world. At the rooms we have all services on-site so Patients do not need to visit multiple sites for their care and often can have all care in one sitting.

It is not uncommon for Patients to come to see Mr Paul Jarrett, then go to radiology for a CT, then return to the Clinic for re-assessment and then attend the therapists for a splint and/or for rehabilitation all in the process of one Clinic visit. Not only is this more convenient and time efficient for your Patient but there is only one appointment fee, making the consultation process far more cost effective.

If required, Patients with emergencies are admitted to the hospital directly from the Murdoch Clinic (same building) for their surgery, or smaller operations may be undertaken within the Clinic rooms as Mr Paul Jarrett has the necessary equipment for minor procedures and has an experienced theatre nurse on-site to assist him with these smaller procedures.

Patients can see Dr Paul Jarrett, his Clinic Nurse, and a hand therapist within the Paul Jarrett Orthopaedic Clinic.

Patients can also access the following services within the building:

  • Hand Therapy
  • Physiotherapy
  • Pharmacy
  • Imaging including X-rays / Ultrasound / CT and MRI (there are 3 imaging clinics onsite who we have an excellent working relationship with)
  • Theatre (day surgery and overnight / multi-day surgery) – with five theatre sessions at the Murdoch per week your patients have excellent access and choice of theatre timing.
  • All other medical specialties on site (cardiology / ICU / medicine etc)

Dr Paul Jarrett and his Orthopaedic Staff would be delighted to accept your Patients with acute Hand and Upper-Limb injuries and have regular theatre sessions to accommodate their needs.

The Clinic also runs two on-call rosters at Murdoch.

The Hand Roster is fully covered 24/7/365 with experienced hand surgeons who cater for bony / joint and soft tissue injuries including all Hand Trauma. In the event that Dr Paul Jarrett is on leave or at Fremantle Hospital, the on-call surgeon can be contacted via the Clinic via 1300 JARRETT (1300 527 738) or via the Emergency Department at the Murdoch Clinic.

There is also an Orthopaedic On-call Roster and the surgeon on-call can similarly be contacted via the Emergency Department.
