Orthopaedic Study Day

The Murdoch Orthopaedic Clinic (including Mr Paul Jarrett) and St John of God Hospital Murdoch held an Orthopaedic Study day for seventy six local General Practitioners on Saturday 17th June. In the morning, the doctors rotated through three different table top discussions and three lectures and in the afternoon, there were three examination workshops and an interactive panel discussion. It was a thoroughly enjoyable and informative day and hopefully will enhance patient care and General Practitioner / Specialist coordination going forwards.

Congratulations Anna-Lisa Baker – Hands & All

We have been delighted to celebrate with Anna Lisa Baker, our Senior Occupational Therapist, her successful examination to become a Certified Hand Therapist.  This Certification is difficult to obtain and involves meeting rigorous standards, developing a long-range career path and acquiring the advanced study and training required to pass the certification examination.  The Certified Hand Therapist credential is recognised by many professional organisations as a benchmark for excellence in advanced specialty credentialing in health care.  This is a substantial achievement and we would like to congratulate her.

Excellence in patient service and care

We always aim to provide excellent service for our patients during the clinic, providing a full-service experience. We usually arrange x-rays during the course of the clinic and for urgent cases ultrasounds, CT’s and at times MRI may be able to be arranged to occur during the clinic to allow effectively two clinic appointments for the cost of one and rapid and convenient treatment. However, last week we were able to go one stage further for a patient who had nerve conduction studies arranged and completed during the course of the clinic and then surgery arranged without having to suffer a wait. This is in stark contrast to my experience in public where routine nerve conduction studies take many months to occur.

That’s all for now for the  Weekly Clinic News – stay tuned for more.
